God Is A Shield For Those Who Take Refuge In Him

    Today’s Verse:

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. -Proverbs 30:5

    Today's Encouragement:

God is the creator and giver of life. His ways are life. To walk away from Him is to walk away from life itself. It makes perfect sense that Scripture would say that He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him because apart from Him are all the dangers, perils, and pitfalls.

When God tells us to do something or not to do something, it is for our benefit. Our prideful sin nature wants to act as we know better than God. We act as though He has no clue about what He is talking about; that we can go a different way and things will still be just fine.

    They won’t be.

Each and every word from God is absolutely pure, coming from the ultimate place of goodness, kindness, and love – for our benefit. No ulterior motives, no hidden agenda, just love.

He is pure goodness, not mixed nor tainted with the slightest darkness. We can rest in Him and trust that His ways are for us and not against us. Let’s go to Him and take refuge in Him – for there we will find peace, protection, and all things good.

    Today's Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for instructing my life. Thank you for the love and guidance you provide. You could have left us without any guidance but you didn't. Your Word contains everything we need for life and godliness. Help me to trust you and obey your Word today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
