    Today’s Verse:

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” –James 5:16

    Today’s Encouragement:

Prayer changes things. There is a reason that God tells us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), it’s because it matters. There is a spiritual battle going on all around us and we get to pray a vital role.

When we pray, we are inviting God into our lives. In a weird way, it’s almost like we are giving Him permission to work in our lives. We are inviting Him in. God is a gentleman and He respects the freewill He has given us.

When we pray, God moves. When we pray, things change and people change. When we pray, angels move.

One of the most loving, most kind things you could ever do for someone is to pray for them. Let’s rephrase that: “to ask the God of the Universe, the Creator, the Almighty, to move on their behalf.” Wow! That’s pretty amazing!

So when you pray, know that God hears you and is moving. Let’s strive to be people of prayer. The Bible tells us to become “devoted to prayer” (Romans 12:12). How many of us can say we are devoted to prayer?

We all have heard of the praying parent or grandparent who is constantly covering their family in prayer. Maybe there is something to that? Maybe we don’t have to wait until we are old to start covering our family in prayer. Let’s commune with the God of the Universe by thanking Him for what He has done in our lives (be thankful), ask for His help, and give Him our burdens. He wants us to lean on Him more than we know.

    Today’s Prayer:

Father God, thank you that we get to speak with you. Thank you that you hear every word and that you care about us. You are so good and we are incredibly grateful for all that you have done in our lives. We love you and help us to become a people who are devoted to prayer. It’s in Jesus’ name that we pray. Amen.
