Today’s Verse:
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” –1 Corinthians 13:1-2
Today’s Encouragement:
You can be the greatest basketball player, the most talented singer, the best artist, or have the most followers on Instagram but if you do not have love, the Bible says that you are nothing. Dang... that is rough, but so true. Let me explain.
Without love, all of those talents or accomplishments are just noise. God calls them a “resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” Noise.
The dictionary defines noise as “a sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance.” Wow! Love must really matter to God. After all, love is what God is (1 John 4:8). I definitely don’t want to show up like white noise to God.
“If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” So let this be your reminder to walk in love today. Love is an action and a decision. You can choose to love even when it’s difficult. You can chose grace even when your flesh says “lash out.” You can chose forgiveness even when you feel the temptation to snap back. This why God can say “love your enemies” because He wasn’t talking about a feeling. It’s an action, a choice.
Today’s Prayer:
Father God, you are love. Help me to show up like you. Please help me deny myself and become love each and every day of my life. I am a long way off, but I desire to love others with your love. Help me to see the areas of my life that need to come into alignment with you. Help me love with your love. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
